“A sliver of the moon emerges from the night clouds and…” the NASA astronaut said of the moonrise photo he captured from a unique vantage point.

NASA astronaut Matthew Dominik has been living on the International Space Station for almost four months. NASA’s SpaceX’s Crew 8 mission commander departs for the ISS on March 3, 2024, along with Roscosmos astronauts Alexander Grebenkin and Michael Barratt and Janet Epps. NASA wrote.

Speaking about the scene, Dominique said, “A sliver of the moon emerges from the night clouds and looks over the horizon waiting for the sun to rise.”

NASA described the image as, “A crescent moon floats over Earth’s atmosphere, resembling blue ocean water. Layers of orange and black beneath a horizontal band of blue extend across the center of the image.” The crescent moon is white and stands out against the blackness of space.”

Matthew Dominik joined the Astronaut Candidate Class of 2017 after being selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of San Diego. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
