There has been an alleged attempt to poison Syrian deposed President Bashar al-Assad.

Sources claim that an attempt has been made to poison the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The former leader, ousted by rebels, has been under the protection of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow since December 8 last year.
However, according to a social media account called General SVR, run by a former spy in Russia, Assad fell ill on Sunday. He sought medical help and then developed “violent coughing and choking.”
The account claimed that “there is every reason to believe that the assassination was attempted.”
Assad was reportedly treated at his apartment, and was said to be in stable condition as of Monday. Tests conducted on him revealed that he had poison in his system. There has been no official confirmation from Syria or Moscow.
A lightning-fast rebel offensive in early December captured the clan of former Syrian ruler Assad.
President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia on December 8, when a rebel coalition led by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) captured Damascus, announcing Assad’s ouster after an 11-day offensive.
