As more young consumers turn ‘Changes’In an effort to replicate the beauty standards seen on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, UK-based trend forecaster LS:N Global conducted its latest research on the trending tweaks. have unveiled and disclosed that producing cosmetic injectable polynucleotides. Very busy right now
What are polynucleotides? I
Polynucleotides are multiple chains of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA).
They are usually derived from salmon sperm, which closely mimics humans, which are then distilled and purified before being mixed with water and used as cosmetic injections.
Polynucleotides differ from fillers and boosters, which are based on hyaluronic acid and physically plump the skin. Instead, they act as a ‘biostimulant’ – increasing the body’s fibroblast cells and therefore collagen and elastin levels, without adding bulk.
The end result is wrinkles and fine lines with better skin hydration.
“Polynucleotides are the latest variation to grow in popularity and Google searches for new skin rejuvenation are up 2,446% year-over-year,” shared LSN Global’s Creative Foresight Editor Rodrigo Tobal Pereira.
“This skin-boosting injection works like an injectable moisturizing treatment, such as Profilo. However, polynucleotides have the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin production, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and tone. I get better,” he explained.
What do polynucleotides do to the skin? I
“More specifically, polynucleotides are injectable biostimulators, which means they work at the cellular level to stimulate the skin to rejuvenate itself,” continued Pereira.
“They’re also anti-inflammatory, and are particularly good for treating dark circles around the eyes – an area where we’ve traditionally had to rely on dermal fillers.”
Pereira further elaborated on Gen Z’s appetite for adaptations.
“Gen Z is known for championing inclusion and unapologetic body acceptance,” she explained. However, growing online, apps like TikTok and Instagram have created a new standard of perfection that is difficult to reach naturally.”
He shared that “minimally invasive ‘tweakments’ like Botox and fillers are set to grow in popularity in 2024,” according to trend forecast results.
“A study by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery found a 75 percent increase in patients under the age of 30 seeking injections or surgery,” he continued.
“These ‘tweakments’ will be openly documented online. Already the hashtag #tweakments has over 6.2 million views on TikTok.
Are Botox and other injections on the rise? I
It appears that minimally invasive options such as microneedling, radiofrequency treatment, and light therapy are all experiencing a surge in popularity.
Analyzing data from just the past three months, LSN Global said polynucleotides saw the biggest increase in Google searches at 49%, followed by advanced facials (29%), skin peeling facials (26%), and microneedling and dermaplaning (26%) both at 22%).
Pereira concludes, “Other notable year-over-year growth includes exosomes (132%), LED red light therapy (129%), and Tuxel (125%).
