As Ukraine Faced with a severe shortage of troops, his government introduced harsh punishments for draft dodgers. Men are trying to avoid conscription in modern ways. One of them is having your legs broken by a doctor. Local Ukrainian media reported ads on Telegram that offered a “unique opportunity to avoid mobilization without leaving the country” and included images of legs and arms wrapped in bandages, RT reported. has given “Deferred from military duty,” RT reported, adding that the services would be performed by medical professionals using high-quality anesthesia. The ads also said patients would be followed up after an injury and help fill out necessary paperwork. Additionally, advertisements promise additional injuries at a discounted rate if one fracture is not enough to avoid a draft campaign.

The ads appeared on several Telegram channels in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro, but were quickly removed, RT reports.

New Ukrainian laws to increase troop numbers
Ukraine’s divisive mobilization law was passed in April and came into effect in May as it struggled to increase troop numbers. Russia launched a new attack. The legislation, which was scrapped from its original draft, would make it easier to identify every recruit in the country. It also provides perks to soldiers, such as cash bonuses or money to buy a house or car, which some analysts say Ukraine cannot afford.

Lawmakers dragged their feet for months and only passed the law in mid-April, a week after Ukraine lowered the age for men from 27 to 25. was on Ukrainian forces, which are trying to capture the front lines in a fight that has decimated the country’s ranks and stockpiles of weapons and ammunition.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also signed two other laws in May, allowing prisoners to join the military and increasing fines for draft dodgers fivefold. Russia conscripted its own prisoners early in the war, and personnel shortages forced Ukraine to adopt new, controversial measures. Ukraine recently lowered the activation age from 27 to 25.

The law lacks the more stringent sanctions for draft evasion that were present in earlier versions. The draft sparked public outcry, and more than 4,000 amendments were made before the final reading in parliament.

In June, Ukraine further banned draft-age men from leaving the country. Officials said that Ukrainian men of draft age with permanent residence in other countries would in most cases not be able to leave if they went to Ukraine. Previously, Ukrainian men between the ages of 18 and 60 who had permanent residence outside the country were allowed to travel abroad. They will now be subject to the same restrictions as other Ukrainian men of military age, barred from leaving unless they meet narrow criteria such as health grounds or government-sanctioned cultural or sports trips. .

The number of Ukrainians increased.
Ukraine began to mobilize shortly after the Russian invasion in February 2022. The country initially saw a significant influx of volunteer fighters, but later declined, with thousands of draft evasions reported since then.

More than two years into the war, Ukraine is on the back foot and its top military commander on the eastern front has said Russian forces are outnumbered by up to 10 times, according to Reuters.

A platoon commander told Reuters in February that only 60-70 percent of the brigade’s several thousand men were still serving. The rest were killed, wounded or signed away for reasons such as old age or illness. Ukrainian officials have said their armed forces numbered around 800,000 in December. Putin Ordered to increase Russia’s troop strength from 170,000 to 1.3 million.

“The most important source of weakness in Ukraine is the lack of manpower,” Konrad Muzycka, director of the Rochon military consultancy in Poland, told Reuters in April. The new law aims to mobilize 450-500,000 more Ukrainians. But the new drafts will require months of training before they can be deployed, creating a “window of opportunity” for Russia to exploit, Muzyka said.
