MS Dhoni is the ultimate standard of unconventionality in cricket. Be it his batting style or his wicket-keeping prowess, there is nothing conventional about Dhoni. IPL 2024 saw a similar dismissal again, this time from Sanju Samson. While playing against Punjab Kings, the Rajasthan Royals skipper was impressed by England’s Liam Livingstone’s run out. Samson’s style of throwing was so similar to Dhoni’s that even the official IPL website called it ‘Dhoni-esque’.

Sanju Samson is one of the contenders for a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad as a wicket-keeper batsman. The Indian squad for the T20 World Cup is likely to be announced in the last week of April. While KL Rahul is almost certain to get a place in the 15-man squad, there are several options when it comes to second choices for the role.

Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are all prominent options for team management with youngster Jitesh Sharma impressing last year as well. However, legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist believes that T20 is an obvious choice for the selectors when choosing the World Cup squad.

“I hope Rishabh Pant will be there. And I will take Sanju Samson as well. Kishan is pushing a very good case, no doubt. But I think Rishabh Pant, if he If not shut down, it should be shut down,” Gilchrist said on CrackBuzz.
